Lol, someone should send the Canadian Liberal Party a brief synopsis of how a US election played out where the extremely unpopular President (Prime Minister) waited until the last possible moment to drop out and the ruling apparatchiks said "it's too late to late for anyone vote on this we're just going to pick a new candidate because fuck you" in "the most important election ever" against a wholly compromised fascist, because it's like I'm watching a fucking re-run and this won't end well...

(Furthermore, if you want to know how a victorious fascist movement in Canada could do far more damage, at a much faster rate than nazis in most other Pig Empire nations, I would advise you to read up on something called the "Notwithstanding Clause" and why you don't *actually* have a constitution. And then consider which party and what type of people are actually running the majority of your Provinces, right now. In some ways, fully nazifying Canada will be easier than it has been elsewhere.)
(I can assure you, if *I* had understood the Notwithstanding Clause before I fled here, I'd have picked someplace else. But it's kind of Canada's dirty little secret that needs to be obscured to maintain the illusion of democratic forms and a free society; so you don't put it in the vacation brochures.)

every time i think about the notwithstanding clause i go into a fugue state and start searching for last-minute plane tickets, yyz to the middle of the pacific ocean, fucking anywhere.
other countries have shady or ambiguous consitutional language that gives a free hand to politicians — canada decided to skip the waffling and get straight to the point, "do whatever ya want lads."
