Look, as a general rule, whenever the media starts fawning over rich people who have "created a new paradigm for examining our lives, human existence, and the future" you need to immediately ask yourself "wait, is this just nazi shit?" And like 95% of the time you will discover that it is in fact, just nazi shit. This is because rich people are big into nazi shit, and rich people also own for-profit media.
I don't make the rules, I just call balls and strikes.
I mean there's a whole meta analysis discussion here about why when you have more money than a Frankish King, while folks are living under overpasses and begging for food money in "the richest country in human history," you need to find a way to justify that situation and that usually means dehumanizing everyone below you in the capitalist pyramid. But also? Who gives a fuck why nazis are nazis and what bullshit they tell themselves to excuse their nazi bullshit? It's tedious.
@AnarchoNinaWrites most assuredly a good call
@AnarchoNinaWrites A while ago I realized that all the good and meaningful progress we make in any arena is hard fought, controversial, and decried by people because it's unfamiliar. The ego of the media and its pseudo-genius darlings is a lubricated easy route for stuff that is bad or doesn't mean anything actually, and it's sold to us because it's palatable intellectual gruel.
@jex Well yes, and also because it serves the interests of the folks who own the media. Furthermore, this is pretty consistent throughout the history of for-profit media; folks like to think there was a good before time when the media was a reliable public watchdog but actually, in America especially, it's been a vehicle for prosecuting ruling class dominance and the capitalist fuckbarrel, basically forever.
@AnarchoNinaWrites This is why I never get discouraged in my praxis. It's hard because it's meaningful.
@jex @AnarchoNinaWrites That and they can sell it, as in people will buy it and then they make money.
Imagine the first time someone tried to explain what the internet was or a computer (equipment not person)... you ain't selling that on description alone... you have no "audience".
But this stuff has an audience (sadly).
