Folks; I can't predict the future, but either this government is absolutely going for it or they aren't. If they're going to keep pretending everything they're doing is legal, it matters that their Warmonger group chat is illegal. If they're going to shout "I AM THE LAW" and go full Ancient Regime? Then it matters that people understand that so they stop waiting on the courts to stop them.

Resignations and replacements take time. Senate hearings expose the regime. Media flak forces responses.

I didn't tell you 'this is the scandal that takes the Trump regime down" - but if that's what you're waiting for let me assure you it's not coming and you need a better plan.

In the meantime it's absolutely a good thing that the fascist regime just got caught openly breaking the laws and now have to answer questions about it in public; questions they are ABSOLUTELY FAILING to credibly answer and making themselves look worse every time they try.

If you don't care? Cool. But this is real.

I can assure you, the Trump regime cares VERY MUCH about making this go away.

Gabbard is already lying on the Senate floor, saying "there was no classified information on the group chat." Trump is pretending he only heard about this scandal today. Hegseth is giving interviews calling Goldberg a hoaxer and avoiding questions. Fox is trying to frame this as like when you and your buddies do a group chat.

The Pork Reich is scared of this. Way more than the deportation flights even.

If you can't hold them accountable in government because they control it all, and you can't hold them accountable in court because they control the top court in the land, then you're pretty much left with holding them accountable in the court of public opinion. And while you might think that's irrelevant, that's precisely what is happening if millions of people are taking to the street demanding the ouster of a political leader which is afaict the only way we get out of this.

So I get you, you're disillusioned and you already know what time it is. But the society around you is very much pretending that it doesn't; and that gets harder and harder to do the more blatantly obviously illegal shit these guys do and use their power to avoid accountability for

Again, just, not replying is always an option - you don't care; cool. Yesterday I didn't care. But now that I understand the scope of the scandal, I think it's clearly dangerous for the regime. And so does the regime

I get what you're saying; they've ALREADY broken the law. But they're doing it to harm people a whole lot Americans do not care about and have been taught to hate for years, decades, even generations. That's fucking awful, but we all know what Amerikkka is, and what it's people are like.

This? Is shit the bipartisan consensus cares about, and isn't just going to let go of because "defending protestors/alleged gang members/trans people is unpopular."

This is a "real" scandal, to the machine.

(In fact, not to be too fucking cynical about it, but the reality is that fucking with the national security state is actually one of the FEW things the US political apparatus has show any appetite to hold truly powerful politicians to account for. Like, it's that and turning up in a hotel room with an underage person or a dead sex worker.

Nobody is saying the way our society works is MORALLY right. Just that because of how our society works, this is something Trump can't just blow off.)

@AnarchoNinaWrites i dunno we still are waiting for trump to suffer a consequence for leaving a bunch of classified documents laying around at Mar a Lago

@waitworry I mean what do you mean by "suffer consequences?"

They charged him. If your position is that this doesn't matter till they lead the sitting president of the united states away in handcuffs, that literally isn't going to happen.

But that's not what I said is going on here. I said this isn't going to go away, there will be Senate hearings, it will remain in the media, dealing with it is something the regime likely can't avoid, and people may have to resign.

@waitworry I dunno what to tell you; you seem to be adoping a maximalist position that anything that doesn't remove Trump from office is irrelevant.

If that's your position, then nothing matters because that's not going to happen

I just don't think that position is an accurate reflection of reality; the more interference the regime runs into, the better; and if they're going to implode the courts, having that happen right now over something they're OBVIOUSLY lying about, is better than waiting

AnarchoNinaWrites

@waitworry Trump wasn't even president when the classified documents case broke. Garland purposely slow rolled the cases, likely because the Dem strategy was to maximize the electoral damage, which was a pretty awful strategy but the situations aren't comparable. That scandal didn't require a Trump regime saying they're doing all this horrible shit to enforce the law, to actively deal with the fact that they broke national security laws WHILE they're in office.
